I’ve been a good little egg this summer before moving back home and haven’t bought THAT many books…. Doesn’t mean I didn’t buy any though….

First off, I told myself I WASN’T gonna get new books as I knew I was going to be moving soon. But then I went to the SciFi exhbition (Into the Unknown) at the Barbican and they had these gorgeous editions of A Clockwork Orange, Frankenstein, Island of Doctor Moreau and Ninteen Eighty-Four. These editions were commissioned by the Barbican in conjunction with Penguin Classics SPECIALLY for the exhbition!! They are special as the covers reflect the stories through locations around the Barbican itself!!!
I ended up getting Frankenstein, and A Clockwork Orange, as I actually don’t own a copy of Frankenstein (shocking, I know) and my copy of Clockwork Orange is kinda falling apart and not very pretty… I’M VAIN. SO SUE ME.
I also managed to snag this copy of Sister Emily’s Lightship and Other Stories by Jane Yolen, from the Oxfam store in Marylebone High Street in London. Even though their book selection is not as good as the one of the Oxfam near the British Museum, it’s still pretty damn good. The copy I got was in really good condition too!!
Before coming home to Singapore, I went to Paris with my parents! And of course that meant I’d want to visit Shakespeare and Company!!! BOOKSTORE TOURISM!!! I wasn’t planning to buy a book, but my dad rolled his eyes at me because he knows me well. BECAUSE I TOTALLY DID.
But to be fair, it was a book I’ve been waiting to get for aaaages!! It’s such a beautiful edition – hardback and thick pages… 😍 Powers of Darkness is not just a translation of Dracula, but like an adaptation??? It’s such a bizarre but interesting… happenstance… Anyway, I can’t wait to set a whole day aside for reading it.
And lastly, when I was back in Singapore, I bought not only the 2 new novellas by JY Yang (and got them signed!), but I got La Belle Sauvage from Philip Pullman!!!!!!!! I HAVE WAITED 84 YEARS FOR THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
