Monthly Roundup โ†ช Aug/Sept๐Ÿ›ซ

I’ve had the sleepy b*tch disease as my friends call it. I’M JUST SO TIRED. ALWAYS!!!! โ˜น๏ธ But I spent September in the UK visiting my sister and seeing friends so I tried VERY HARD to read as much as possible (mostly short books that I have not gotten around to reading from NetGalley), AND I changed my GoodReads reading goal because I want the shiny badge. It’s now at 30, and I think I did pretty well. SILVER LINING!

Better Shorts Than ‘Cat Person’ [Literary Lists]

If you were away from the internet recently, let me fill you in.ย Everyone lost their minds over a semi decent short story in the New Yorker about a 20 something college girl having a questionable but short lived relationship.

Long story short, people got upset, people had opinions, and honestly, there are SO MANY better short stories out there that you can read instead of this one. Here are my recommendations of short story anthologies that you can read instead of bothering with that one.ย ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

Creatures of the Night for Hungry Ghost Month [Book Tag]

I found this book tag sitting in my drafts, so I’ve decided to fill it out! Especially since Hungry Ghost Month is coming up soon… ๐Ÿ‘น๐Ÿ‘ป๐Ÿ‘บ

Book tag-list things are always fun and sometimes make me realise that I’ve been missing out on certain genres, or themes in my reading!!!

Monthly Roundup โ†ช Jan โŒš๐Ÿ˜ซ

I reallyย really REALLYย underestimated how busy I would get working at the national paper as a photojournalist intern/temp… Working a 10 hour day is the norm and getting to come home at 6-7pm for dinner is a lucky break. And I’m not even doing early or late night shifts yet!!

It’s madness but I’m enjoying it so there’s that. I’ve also been able to shoot a few stories that are book related and I’ll eventually post them up here since they are what I’d call a “Local Love”. One is a restaurant and the other is an author!

Despite my hectic schedule I managed to read 4 of my short books from my January TBR post, which even though is not even close to what my goal was, I also read 2 books that were longer than 200 pages. So I guess it’s not all bad. I’m just going to transfer that TBR challenge to February and try and read more in-between travelling to jobs during the week.

OK BOOK TIME!

Also I’m in Singapore which means biblical thunderstorms and flash floods like 4/5 times a week. Which is really nice when you’re hiding indoors so you don’t get wet in what is warm rain that sometimes can feel like pee. “Winter” in the tropics of South East Asia is weird. We have snow themed ย decorations everywhere, yet we are either sweating like mad or hoping the torrential rain won’t delay the bus system.
